Does romance exist in a time of economic doom and gloom?
So, we just get over Christmas and the official ’silly season’ and now those of us in a relationship are being reminded to splash out on our loved one again…because, guess what…it is only one month until Valentines Day!
Well I have a few ideas of my own: Recession busting romatic tips and ideas!
This year, February 14, Valentines Day, falls on a Saturday in Australia. This means you have to be super organised and don’t be lazy and generic by ‘picking up’ a bunch of flowers at the local supermarket or service station….at least arrange something previously…this will earn some big brownie points in the love and care department!
1. Order a Valentines Day gift online, and get delivered to yourself on the Friday, so that you can hand delivery on the day..or if you and your loved one are apart – get sent to his or her office or home on the Friday.
This year Everything But Flowers have a ton of gifts that are stunning and even better, not expensive!! Forget the $150 bunch of red roses……
for $35 you can get sent a “Bucket of Love” – I love this gift and idea. It is fun, cheap and anyone that loves chocolate will love you even more!
For the blokes (or even for a beer loving lady) – check out the esky beer pack or the Australian beers with chocolate hearts.
If you really want to spoil your partber (and show off) – nothing beats a bottle of bubbly and the prices on Everything But Flowers are very good….keep in mind they are delivered anywhere in Australia by couruer. My favourites include:
- Moet & Style…….perfect for a picnic
- Pannier – The award winning French Champagne….take along to dinner or just pop at home….
- Melting Moments – A piccolo of Moet and chocolate gold coins….how gorgoeous!
Now we have the gifts sorted…and still have some money left, this what I would do:
- A picnic – it is summer after all and guess what….you wont be surrounded by hundreds of other couples eating dinner…you can instead go to a local park, a beach or a nice area on the harbour…and it is FREE! Take along a blanket, maybe even some tea light candles (don’t forget the matches), perhaps a cheese platter and champagne or if you want to cheat…pick up your favourite take away on the way!
- Do chores around the house that you don’t normally do, or hate doing: Make the bed for a week, cook a special dinner at home, iron, clean, watch Arena on Foxtel instead of the cricket, go grocery shopping (and don’t complain!)
- Cook dinner at home and don’t turn on the TV! Simple things, can often be the most special
- A massage
- A love letter from the bottom of your heart…..P.s there are loads of web sites that can help you with this!
- Leave notes around the house with poems or special words on them!
- Big Kisses and Cuddles
And then on February 15th….everything is back to normal again!
Good Luck!
